As the end of school approaches, and the beginning of summer vacation starts, creativity blossoms and boredom arises. Are you interested in writing short stories? How about getting your ideas adapted into an actual short film? Well, now is your chance to shine.

Welcome to our Summer 2013 Short Story Contest. Your goal is to write a short story that fits the following criteria.

To submit it, you have to head on over to the Submission Thread and post a link to your story.

Who are we? Well, on Fictionpress, I am Den and my friend is Phoenix. We are sisters and we finally finished grade 11 recently. We've decided to shoot, act and edit short films this year during this summer with our group of friends. I will be editing it and mostly shooting it with my Canon Rebel t3 and Sony Vegas Pro. Phoenix will be doing mostly screenwriting, directing and shooting too.

Winners will get their story adapted, obviously. We will try to pick as many winners and stories to adapt as possible, as long as we like them. Youtube links will be sent to you when we finish the short film. I will PM you if you get selected!

Story Criterias:

500 words - 1500 words (aka 1-2 pages)
Minimum: At least a character monologue
Maximum: 5 characters
Not 18 or rated Mature
Not some prologue to your multi-chapter story
Can be your old stories (doesn't have to be written recently)
Should be edited and read over before submitting
Clean grammar and spelling preferred
Specific Things:

If writing a Romance: Minimal physical actions (aka touching, kissing, cuddling) because if you add it, we'll try to film it as off-screen as possible. We are not real actors. We are a group of friends who do get awkward.
If writing a Supernatural/Mythology/Fantasy: Minimal costumes and props please. We are not high on a budget. In fact, we don't really have a budget at all. We will improvise your character species or anything if necessary.
If writing an Action: Keep it simple with the actions and moves. We are not karate experts, in fact most of us don't know any.
If writing a Thriller, Murder Mystery etc: Minimal gore/bloody scenes. We will make some off-screen and censored if there's too much.
Balance your dialogue, actions, setting. Please do not write too much of either.
Banned Genres: Sci-Fi (dystopian is okay), Historical
DEADLINE: August 10th, 2013
